| Drummond Community High School Headteacher, Nora Prentice is very generously running the London Marathon in April this year in aid of Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary. SGS is one of two charities which Nora is going to be raising funds for, and she has decided to get the pupils at her school involved with the fundraising process as much as possible. To that end, SGS volunteers and their dogs visited the school on five occasions over the past fortnight, giving a short presentation to each year group about greyhound rescue and what SGS is all about, and allowing the pupils the opportunity to meet some greyhounds face to face. Greyhounds Hamish, Lana, Annie, Jackson and Molly proved a huge hit with both pupils and staff at the school and were fantastic 'ambassadogs' for the charity. We hope that as well as educating these children about the realities of greyhound racing and the work which rescues like SGS carry out, we may have sown the seeds for some future greyhound adoptions as well! |
